Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins on the Leg

For many varicose veins of the leg, sclerotherapy is an effective form of treatment. Sclerotherapy involves a precision injection of a solution into the vein. The procedure treats the legs veins by triggering your body to actually absorb the vein. Smaller spider veins can be treated with a laser.

Treating smaller Spider Veins with Laser

The treatment of “spider veins” is no longer a lengthy, painful process. These spider veins may occur on the legs or other parts of the body. The veins respond to the precise energy level and wavelength of light that is used. The small spot of laser light travels throughout the skin and is absorbed within the vein on the basis of its color. The resulting heat clogs the blood and destroys the function of the vein without affecting the surrounding tissue. Over time the vein will be absorbed by the body and will disappear.

We use:
  • Gentlemax (yag)
  • Intense Pulsed Light
There are no changes in activities, before or after treatment. Prior to and following any type of laser treatment, you must limit your exposure to the sun; treatment should not be performed on tanned skin. This laser therapy will be used in conjunction with sclerotherapy for the more complex varicosities.
